Business Project Management

MGT 3250

Sep 25, 2023 - Dec 15, 2023

Looking to elevate your organization, and bring it to the next level? Bring on learners from Ohio University to be your learner-consultants, in a project-based experience. Learners will work on your project over the experience of the semester, connecting with you as needed with virtual communication tools. Learners in this program/experience cover some of the basic issues related to, and tools used for, managing projects and the course provides an opportunity for students to learn the application of tools and concepts of project management. Often, we are involved with developing a new system, a new product, planning an event, or participating in an undertaking that we cannot simply repeat things we have done in our past experience. As such, they require a unique approach to management and administration, it is important to understand and appreciate the techniques and concepts used for successful project management.

New Product Development

MKT 4650

Sep 5, 2023 - Dec 18, 2023

Bring on learners from Ohio University to be your learner-consultants, in a project-based experience. Learners will work on one main project over the experience of the semester, connecting with you as needed with virtual communication tools. Learners in this program/experience will learn and then follow a stage gate development process to develop product ideas, decide how to position the ideas, write concept statements, test the concepts first qualitatively and then quantitatively, and then proceed to developing a proof of concept prototype. For perspective, last year the class developed ideas for a seasonal decorations company named Old world Christmas. The process starts with a situation analysis and ends with a product prototype. Students include marketing and communications majors and we will have graphic capabilities.

Marketing Communications Strategy

MKT 4630

Sep 2, 2022 - Dec 4, 2022

This is the capstone course project that is designed to aggregate undergraduate students’ learning experiences across the marketing major. In line with your organization’s goals, a team of students will develop a business-to-consumer (B2C) strategic marketing communications plan to address fit between your brand and the market. Student teams will deliver a tight, cohesive, and compelling strategic communication plan for the brand that will shape the company’s success in the market. Our students will determine an effective and impactful approach to deliver your B2C communication campaign to its intended audience. In devising this plan, the team(s) will extensively research the market to discover opportunities to better connect with your audience. Having a few live calls and end of semester presentation will be essential. This course meets on Tues/Thursday in the morning, so partnering with a client in the Eastern or Central time zones in North America will likely work best!
